For Health Care Professionals
Welcome to the "For Health Care Professionals" page of Naomi S Korn, LCSW. As a mental health professional specializing in EMDR therapy, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care to help patients overcome trauma and achieve lasting healing.
What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based approach that has been widely recognized as a powerful tool for treating trauma-related disorders. This integrative psychotherapy approach helps patients process distressing memories and experiences by accessing and activating their own natural healing processes.
During an EMDR session, patients are guided to focus on traumatic memories or distressing experiences while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation – typically through eye movements, taps, or tones. This dual attention process helps the brain reprocess the memories, allowing for new insights and associations to emerge and enabling healing to take place.
Benefits of EMDR Therapy
EMDR therapy has shown tremendous effectiveness in treating various mental health conditions, including:
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Anxiety Disorders
- Depression
- Phobias and Fears
- Substance Abuse
- Eating Disorders
- Performance Anxiety
- And more
By targeting the root causes of these conditions, EMDR therapy facilitates a comprehensive healing process. It helps patients reprocess traumatic memories, reduce the intensity of disturbing emotions and sensations, and develop healthier coping strategies.
Collaboration and Referrals
I value collaboration with other health care professionals and believe in a team-based approach to patient care. As a mental health professional, I am committed to working alongside physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other specialists to provide the best possible care for our mutual patients.
If you have patients who could benefit from EMDR therapy, I invite you to refer them to my practice. Together, we can enhance their mental well-being and assist them on their journey toward healing and recovery.
